“Desh mein suraksha ka sankatpaida ho gaya hai….sanskar se lekardesh ki seema tak videshi gushpaithho raha hai (there is a threat to the national security due to foreign invasion on our culture), RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat reporters.

“There is a serious threat to the national border from China and Pakistan, even as terrorism, Maoism and economic issues like the FDI in retail sector pose other challenges so much so to endanger our national sovereignty,” Bhagwat said.

The government should put in place security infrastructure and intelligence system to sternly deal with external threats to the national borders from China and Pakistan and internal threats from terrorists and Maoists, Bhagwat said.

Observing that there was lack of development and employment opportunities in the country which apparently compelled the youths to take to other activities for sustenance, he said that there should be transparency and accountability in the political system to address growing economic chasm in the society.

“I am afraid that the functioning of the governments have lacked transparency and accountability over the years that has caused socio-economic inequity in society much to the detriment of the nation building exercise,” Bhagwat said.

The government should adopt even-handed approach to address all issues ranging from security, terrorism, Maoism and socio-economic imbalance in society instead of prevailing sectarian and vote bank politics, the RSS leader said and expressed apprehension that if institutions failed to deliver the goods to the people, then the people may rise and launch a revolution to put in place an alternative political system.

Bhagwat also rapped the UPA government without taking its name for going ahead with notifying FDI in retail sector despite strong opposition to it from the cross-section of the society.

There has been adequate foreign investment flowing into the country’s economy but the flow of funds should not affect the domestic control over economy, Bhagwat observed and said that the issue should have been debated, including its long-term consequence, before taking a decision in this regard.

On the RSS’s stand, he said that the Sangh was not opposed to foreign investment in the country but “the keys of economy have to remain in domestic hands.

PATNA: Feb 4: On the second day of his ‘Prawas Yatra’ in Bihar, Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday held amarathon in-camera conclave of the Sangh’s “representative in charge” of around a dozen of its affiliated organizations in the state, including BJP, to have an update on their activities and discuss the future steps for spreading their reach.

About 120 of these representatives, who make the Sangh’s core state coordination committee, attended the conclave. Each of them presented updates on the activities of their respective organizations.

Incidentally, the activities and reach of the RSS has increased progressively in the state in the last 10 years. The state BJP has made around 25 lakh new members in Bihar

“As per the agenda, only discussions were held and no decisions were taken. In fact, no decision is taken during the ‘Prawas Yatra’ of our organisational head,” said a RSS source, implying that the future guidelines, if any, would be conveyed for action only later.

Bhagwat arrived here on Friday to discuss matters related to the activities of various organizations in South Bihar. He would stay in Patna for the next two days. The headquarters of North Bihar wing of the RSS is at Bhagalpur. By the Sangh’s convention, the RSS chief visits every state once a year for discussions with the organisational units of that particular state.

Bhopal February 3: Congress MLA, Kalpana Parulekar, was today arrested for allegedly doctoring photograph of State Lokayukta P P Naolekar to show that he was a former RSS worker.

She was arrested from Mahidpur, her constituency in the Ujjain district, said IG- Crime Investigation Department CID, C V Muniraju.

The case was registered by the  Crime Investigation Department (CID)  Bhopal after state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra raised the issue during the last assembly session. Ms. Parulekar had raised the issue during the winter session of the Vidhan Sabha last December and had waved the photograph in the house and later circulated it in the press.

The allegation against Parulekar is that to prove that the ruling BJP had favoured Naolekar, a former Supreme Court Judge, in appointing the Lokayukta, she produced a doctored photograph of Naolekar which showed him in RSS uniform. For this, Naolekar’s photograph was morphed with that of RSS supremo Mohan Bhagwat.

The photograph was supplied to the assembly press room; it was also produced in the house during a no-confidence motion.

Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Ajay Singh, state Congress chief Kantilal Bhuria and Congress general secretary in-charge of the state, B K Hariprasad, termed the action “politically motivated”.

Bangalore: Hindu Seva Pratishthana’s Nele project has transformed the life of children wandering on Bangalore streets and has enabled them lead a respectful life. Nele means shelter in Kannada.  Their life has been brought on correct track of schooling and good conduct so as to become the responsible citizens of tomorrow.
It is a common sight in Bangalore to see children with torn clothes, disheveled hair, eyes full of hope, lugging a dirty bag on their tiny shoulder, picking bits and pieces of rags from the streets. They are totally deprived of the right to parent’s love and affection, basic education and support from society. The only choice for these kids to have their living is to feed themselves on the leftover food thrown around by the people. Apart from the rag-pickers there are also thousands of other children deprived of parental care and facing financial hardships who need homely atmosphere. It is no wonder that many of these children, devoid of basic schooling and cultural education, cultivate all the wrong habits and end up as anti social elements marching on the path of crime.
The city of Bangalore alone encompasses thousands of such children.

It is the responsibility of any civilized society to take care of its people, especially children like these. Hindu Seva Prathisthana offers a ray of hope to these children in the form of Nele. Nele project was initiated by Hindu Seva Pratishthana in the year 2000 to provide residential care to such children. So far, 10 centres have been established in Karnataka that provide shelter to over 260 boys and girls. Facilities such as food, clothing and shelter; school based education, cultural education & social awareness; sports, music, fine arts, Sanskrit and Yoga along with the health and hygiene awareness are provided to destitute children.

Many of the children are brought here by the police or social workers to prevent them from falling victim to crime and social evils. The idea behind Nele is to provide a home-like atmosphere with loving care so that their emotional needs are also met along with the financial and material ones. So, the wardens and volunteers treat the children like members of their own family, mingle with them freely, and even dine with them regularly.
Of course, there are a handful of children who show little or no inclination for studies and show consistently poor academic results. Such children are first encouraged to study hard but if the situation does not improve, they are given vocational training. Once they are adults and equipped with minimum education or vocation skills, all Nele inmates are helped to find jobs. There are a few dropouts too, who want to return home instead of staying in Nele for their own reasons or due to family pressure with their elders insisting on taking them away.
Most parents regard Nele as a boon, because their children are receiving what they themselves could never provide––three meals a day, safe shelter, hygienic bathing facilities, clean clothes, decent education and opportunities for extracurricular activities. There are mothers who express relief that their children have escaped the horror of seeing their drunken fathers and scenes of domestic abuse everyday and being emotionally scarred by that.
Some children have seen their mothers walk out from the home abandoning them to the father and/or grandparents who then bring the children here. Also, street children are vulnerable to many other dangers––they get drawn to or are forced into drug abuse/being used as drug peddlers, thievery, beggary, gang fights, smoking, drinking, prostitution, etc. Many of them turn into juvenile delinquents. Nele aims to rescue children from that fate and put them on the path to becoming productive, disciplined, self-reliant and socially useful individuals. They are also encouraged to return to their parents.
Various festivals such as Raksha Bandhan, Makar Sankranti, Shrikrishna Janmashtami, etc are celebrated with religious fervor. A unique programme called Makkala Mantapa provides a platform to Nele children to compete in various sports and cultural events. Children from Nele have won prizes in music, drawing, athletics, kabaddi and kho kho at district level competitions. Nele children were invited to present a programme at prestigious Dussehra festival at Mysore and their performance was much appreciated by all.

RSS state in-charge Nawal Prasad said that the RSS chief embarks on ‘prawas’ journey in every state once a year, when he interacts with the local workers and representatives of affiliated organizations to discuss things with them. It was in this connection that the RSS chief is arriving here on Friday morning for five-day stay here, he added.

According to Prasad, Bhagwat would address a day-long meeting of those saddled with the task of executing the RSS activities. It would be followed by a meeting on Saturday of workers from several areas associated with Vidya Bharti, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, BJP, Saksham, Swadeshi Jagaran Manch, Bharatiya Majdoor Sangh and Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, among others.

On Sunday, he would also hold an extended meeting with the local RSS leadership that would end on Monday.

ಅದು 29.03.1979. ಚಾಂದ್ರಮಾನ ಯುಗಾದಿಯ ಶುಭದಿನ. ಅವಿಭಜಿತ ದ. ಕ. ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಆಗ ಇದ್ದ ಎರಡು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಮೂರು ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳ ಜತೆ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಪುಟ್ಟ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆ ಕಣ್ತೆರೆಯಿತು. ಟ್ಯಾಬ್ಲಾಯ್ಡ್ ಗಾತ್ರದ 2 ಪುಟಗಳ ಕಪ್ಪು-ಬಿಳುಪಿನ ಆ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯೇ ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತ. ಆಗ ಅದಕ್ಕಿದ್ದ ಮುಖ ಬೆಲೆ 10 ಪೈಸೆ.

ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳಿವೆ. ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಮೂರು ಚಿಕ್ಕಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳೂ ಇವೆ. ಹೀಗಿರುವಾಗ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಪತ್ರಿಕೆ ಏಕೆ? ಈ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ಆಗ ಕೇಳಿಬಂದಿದ್ದು ಸ್ವಾಭಾವಿಕ. ಆದರೆ ‘ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತ’ ಮೂರರ ಜತೆ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯಾಗಿ, ಗುಂಪಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಗೋವಿಂದವಾಗಲು ಜನ್ಮ ತಳೆದಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಎಷ್ಟೇ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳಿದ್ದರೂ ಉಳಿದೆಲ್ಲ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿರಬೇಕೆಂಬುದೇ ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತದ ಉದ್ದೇಶವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ನಿರ್ಭೀತ, ನಿಷ್ಪಕ್ಷಪಾತ, ವಸ್ತುನಿಷ್ಠ ವರದಿ ನೀಡುವ, ಜತೆಗೆ ಸತ್ಯಸಂಗತಿಯನ್ನು ನಿಷ್ಠುರವಾಗಿ ಅರುಹುವ, ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯತೆ, ದೇಶದ ಹಿತಾಸಕ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿಹಿಡಿಯುವ ದಿನಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯೊಂದು ಬೇಕೆಂಬುದು ಸಮಾನಮನಸ್ಕ ವಿಚಾರಧಾರೆಯ ಬಹುಜನರ ಅಪೇಕ್ಷೆಯಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಆ ಅಪೇಕ್ಷೆಯ ಸಾಕಾರರೂಪವೇ ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತ.

ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತ ಆರಂಭಕ್ಕೂ ಮುನ್ನ ೧೯೭೫ರ ತುರ್ತುಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಪತ್ರಿಕಾ ನಿರ್ಬಂಧವಿದ್ದಾಗ ಜನತೆಗೆ ಸತ್ಯಸಂಗತಿ ತಿಳಿಸಲು ಸಂಘಪರಿವಾರ ‘ಕಹಳೆ’ ಎಂಬ ಭೂಗತ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ನಿಯಮಿತವಾಗಿ ಹೊರತರುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಅದರ ಮುದ್ರಣ, ವಿತರಣೆ ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಕಣ್ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿ ನಡೆಸಬೇಕಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಜನರು ಮಾತ್ರ ಆ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಾಗಿ ಕುತೂಹಲದಿಂದ ಕಾಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದುದುಂಟು. ತುರ್ತುಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ತೊಲಗಿದಾಗ ಭೂಗತ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮುಂದುವರೆಸುವ ಅಗತ್ಯ ಕಂಡುಬರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯತೆ, ಸಮಾಜಮುಖಿ ಧನಾತ್ಮಕ ವಿಚಾರಗಳು, ಹಿಂದುತ್ವ ಮೊದಲಾದ ವಿಚಾರಗಳಿಗೆ ಆಗ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾಮುಖ್ಯತೆ ಸಿಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದುದು ತೀರಾ ಕಡಿಮೆ. ಹೊಸ ದಿಗಂತ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಈ ಅಂಶ ಕೂಡ ಕಾರಣವಾಯಿತು.

ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತ ಆರಂಭಗೊಂಡಾಗ ಅದಕ್ಕೊಂದು ತನ್ನದೇ ಆದ ಕಚೇರಿ ಕೂಡ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಬಂಡವಾಳವಂತೂ ಮೊದಲೇ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಹೊಸ ದಿಗಂತ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯ ಕನಸು ಕಂಡವರ ಬಳಿಯೂ ಬಂಡವಾಳದ ವಿಶಾಲ ಹರವು ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆಗ ಇದ್ದದ್ದು ನಮ್ಮ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯೊಂದನ್ನು ಹೊರತರಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಪ್ರಬಲ ಇಚ್ಛಾಶಕ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಛಲ ಮಾತ್ರ. ಈ ಪ್ರಬಲ ಇಚ್ಚಾಶಕ್ತಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಛಲಗಳೇ ಕ್ರಮೇಣ ಹೊಸ ದಿಗಂತದ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಗೆ ಆಧಾರಸ್ತಂಭಗಳಾದವು ಎನ್ನುವುದು ಈಗ ಇತಿಹಾಸ. ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಕುದ್ರೋಳಿ ಅಳಿಕೆ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಪುಟ್ಟದೊಂದು, ಮೂರೂವರೆ ಜನರು ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದಾದ ಕೋಣೆಯೊಂದರಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತದ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಆರಂಭ. ಮೊಳೆ ಜೋಡಿಸಿ ಕಂಪೋಸ್ ಮಾಡಿ, ಮೈಕೈ ಮಸಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಕಷ್ಟಪಟ್ಟು ಕಪ್ಪು-ಬಿಳುಪಿನ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆ ಹೊರತರಬೇಕಾದ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ. ಆಗ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಪತ್ರಿಕಾ ಗೋಷ್ಠಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತಕ್ಕೆ ಆಹ್ವಾನವೇ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಹೊಸ ದಿಗಂತವನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಪತ್ರಿಕೆ ಎಂದು ಪತ್ರಿಕಾಗೋಷ್ಠಿ ಕರೆಯುವವರು ಭಾವಿಸಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ಕೆಲವು ಹಿರಿಯ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತರು ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತದ ಪರವಾಗಿ ವಾದಿಸಿ, ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಗೂ ಪತ್ರಿಕಾಗೋಷ್ಠಿಗೆ ಕರೆಯಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಆಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದ ಬಳಿಕ, ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗೆ ಆಮಂತ್ರಣ ಬರತೊಡಗಿದವು. ಆದರೂ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲಿಲ್ಲದ ಗೌರವ, ಆದರ ನೀಡಿ, ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತವನ್ನು ಕೀಳಾಗಿ, ವ್ಯಂಗ್ಯದಿಂದ, ತಾತ್ಸಾರವಾಗಿ ನೋಡುವ ಪರಿಪಾಠ ಇದ್ದೇ ಇತ್ತು. ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತ ಅದಕ್ಕೆಲ್ಲ ತಲೆಕೆಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳದೆ ತನ್ನ ಕಾಯಕವನ್ನು ನಿಷ್ಠೆಯಿಂದ ಮುಂದುವರಿಸಿತು. ಕ್ರಮೇಣ ಎಲ್ಲರ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸ ಗಳಿಸಿತು.

ಟ್ಯಾಬ್ಲಾಯ್ಡ್ ಗಾತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ನಾಲ್ಕು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಪುಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊರತರಲಾಯಿತು. ಆದರೆ ಬೇರೆ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಆಗ ೮ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಪುಟಗಳಿರುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ವಿಷಯ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯಗಳಿರುತ್ತಿದ್ದವು. ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತದಲ್ಲೂ ಅವೆಲ್ಲ ಇರಬೇಕೆಂಬುದು ಓದುಗರ ಅಪೇಕ್ಷೆಯಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಮುದ್ರಣ ಜಗತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲೂ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಬದಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಮುದ್ರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಆಫ್‌ಸೆಟ್ ಮೆಷೀನ್, ಅಕ್ಷರಜೋಡಣೆಗೆ ಕಂಪ್ಯೂಟರ್ ಕಾಲಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದವು. ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತಕ್ಕೂ ಅವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ಬಳಸುವುದು ಅನಿವಾರ‍್ಯವಾಯಿತು. ಯೆಯ್ಯಾಡಿ ಕೈಗಾರಿಕಾ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ದಿಗಂತ ಮುದ್ರಣ ಎಂಬ ಸ್ವಂತ ಮುದ್ರಣಾಲಯ ಕಂಪ್ಯೂಟರ್, ವೆಬ್, ಆಫ್‌ಸೆಟ್ ಮುದ್ರಣಯಂತ್ರ ಗಳನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡು ತಲೆಯೆತ್ತಿತು. ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತ ಕಚೇರಿ ಕೂಡ ಯೆಯ್ಯಾಡಿಗೆ ಸ್ಥಳಾಂತರಗೊಂಡಿತು . ಆಗತಾನೆ ಪತ್ರಿಕೋದ್ಯಮ ಪದವಿ ಪಡೆದ ಹಲವು ಯುವಕರು ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರ್ಪಡೆಗೊಂಡರು. ನಾಲ್ಕು ಪುಟವಿದ್ದ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆ ಆರು ಪುಟಗಳಾಗಿ ಕ್ರಮೇಣ ೮ ಪುಟಗಳಿಗೇರಿ ಜನಮನ ಸೆಳೆಯಿತು. ಪ್ರತಿ ಶುಕ್ರವಾರ ಸಿನಿಮಾ ದಿಗಂತ (೪ ಪುಟ) ಪ್ರತಿ ಭಾನುವಾರ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಸಾಪ್ತಾಹಿಕ (೪ ಪುಟ) ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಕೃಷಿ, ಆಟ ಅವಲೋಕನ, ಆರೋಗ್ಯ, ಶ್ರೀ-ಸ್ತ್ರೀ ಮೊದಲಾದ ಅಂಕಣಗಳೂ ಪ್ರಕಟವಾಗತೊಡಗಿದವು.

ಮುದ್ರಣಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಶರವೇಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಬದಲಾಗುತ್ತಲೇ ಇತ್ತು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕಂತೆ ಹೊಸ ದಿಗಂತವೂ ಬದಲಾಗಲೇ ಬೇಕಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳು ಬಣ್ಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುದ್ರಣಗೊಳ್ಳತೊಡಗಿದಾಗ ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತವೂ ಬಣ್ಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುದ್ರಣಗೊಂಡು ಓದುಗರಿಗೆ ಮುದನೀಡಿತು.

ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮುದ್ರಣಗೊಂಡ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆ ದ.ಕ. ಜಿಲ್ಲೆ, ಕೊಡಗು, ಉತ್ತರಕನ್ನಡ, ಕಾಸರಗೋಡು ಮೊದಲಾದ ಭಾಗಗಳಿಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ತಲುಪುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ರಾಜಧಾನಿ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿಗೆ ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತ ತಲುಪುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯ ಆವೃತ್ತಿ ತೆರೆಯುವುದೊಂದೇ ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಪರಿಹಾರವೆಂದು ಆಡಳಿತ ವರ್ಗಕ್ಕೆ ಅರಿವಾಯಿತು. ಆಗ ಶುರುವಾದದ್ದು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಆವೃತ್ತಿ (೧೯೯೫). ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುದ್ರಣ ಯಂತ್ರ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯ ಆವೃತ್ತಿ ಆರಂಭಗೊಂಡಿತಾದರೂ ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಹಿನ್ನಡೆ ಕಾರಣಗಳಿಂದಾಗಿ ಆವೃತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಗಿತಗೊಳಿಸಬೇಕಾಗಿ ಬಂದಿತು.

ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಮಹತ್ವದ ವಿದ್ಯಮಾನಗಳು ನಡೆದ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದ ಪಾತ್ರ ಇಂದಿಗೂ ಸ್ಮರಣೀಯ. ಅಯೋಧ್ಯೆ ವಿವಾದ, ದತ್ತಪೀಠ, ಹುಬ್ಬಳ್ಳಿ ಕಿತ್ತೂರು ಚೆನ್ನಮ್ಮ ಮೈದಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಧ್ವಜಾರೋಹಣ, ರಥಯಾತ್ರೆ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ ಸಂದರ್ಭಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತ ನಿರ್ಭೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿ, ಓದುಗರಿಗೆ ಸತ್ಯಸಂಗತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಅರುಹುವಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿದ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ಪಾತ್ರ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿತು. ೧೯೯೨ರ ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ ೪ ರಂದು ಅಯೋಧ್ಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಬ್ರಿ ಮಸೀದಿ ಧ್ವಂಸಗೊಂಡ ದಿನ ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತ ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಯನ್ನು ಅಯೋಧ್ಯೆಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿತ್ತು. ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲ , ಆ ಒಂದೇ ದಿನ ಘಟನೆಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಸಿ ತಾಜಾ ವಿವರಗಳನ್ನುಳ್ಳ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಆವೃತ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊರತಂದಿತ್ತು. ಅದು ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತದ್ದೇ ವಿಶೇಷತೆ.ಬೇರೆ ಯಾವ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯೂ ಅಂತಹ ಸಾಹಸ ಮಾಡಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆ ದಿನದ ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಾಗಿ ಜನರು ಯೆಯ್ಯಾಡಿ ಕಚೇರಿಗೇ ಲಗ್ಗೆಯಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರು. ಇಡೀ ಸಂಪಾದಕೀಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಉಳಿದ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿವರ್ಗ ಆ ದಿನ ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ೧೦ರಿಂದ ರಾತ್ರಿ ೨ ರವರೆಗೆ ದಣಿವಿಲ್ಲದೇ ಎಡೆಬಿಡದೆ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ದತ್ತಪೀಠ ವಿವಾದ ಮತ್ತಿತರ ಸಂದರ್ಭಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಓದುಗರಿಗೆ ಉಳಿದ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳು ಕೊಡದ ತಾಜಾ ಸುದ್ದಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಾಹಿತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತ ಒದಗಿಸಿತ್ತು ಎಂಬುದು ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯ ಪಾಲಿಗೆ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯ ಸಂಗತಿ.

ಬೇರೆ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳಿಗಿರುವಂತೆ ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆನ್ನೆಲುಬಾಗಿ ಉದ್ಯಮಿಗಳಿಲ್ಲ. ದೊಡ್ಡ ಉದ್ಯಮ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಓದುಗರು, ಜಾಹೀರಾತುದಾರರು ಹಾಗೂ ಅಭಿಮಾನಿಗಳೇ ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂಡವಾಳ ಹೂಡಿಕೆದಾರರು! ಅವರೇ ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತಕ್ಕೆ ಶ್ರೀರಕ್ಷೆ. ಈ ಮಾತು ಆಗಲೂ ಈಗಲೂ ಅನ್ವಯ. ಇಂತಹ ‘ಅಮೂಲ್ಯ ಬಂಡವಾಳ ಹೂಡಿಕೆದಾರ’ ರನ್ನೇ ನಂಬಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತ ಈಗ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಮುನ್ನೆಗೆತಕ್ಕೆ ಸಜ್ಜಾಗಿದೆ. ರಾಜ್ಯ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲೇ ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತ ಕೂಡ ೧೨ ಪುಟಗಳು, ಆಕರ್ಷಕ ವಿನ್ಯಾಸ ಹಾಗೂ ಹೊಸ ರೂಪದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಸಮಗ್ರ ಸುದ್ದಿಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯಾಗಿ ಜನರ ಕೈಗೆ ತಲುಪಲು ಸಿದ್ಧತೆ ನಡೆಸಿದೆ. ಇದೇ ಜುಲೈ ೩೧ ರಂದು ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತ ಹೊಸ ರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊರಬರಲಿದೆ. ಕಾಲಕಾಲಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕಂತೆ ಬದಲಾವಣೆಗೆ ತೆರೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದೇ ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತದ ಆಶಯ.

ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತದ ನಡಿಗೆ ನಿಧಾನ, ಆದರೆ ಅದು ಸ್ಥಿರ ಹಾಗೂ ಸುಭದ್ರ. Slow and steady wins the race ಎಂಬ ಮಾತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗೆ ಅಚಲ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸ. ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗೆದ್ದೇ ತೀರುವ ಹಂಬಲ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯದು.

ಹೊಸದಿಗಂತದ ೩೦ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಈ ಸುದೀರ್ಘ ಪ್ರಯಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಸಾಕಿ ಸಲಹಿ, ನೀರೆರೆದು ಪೋಷಿಸಿ ಬೆಳೆಸಿದವರು, ಅದರ ಉಜ್ವಲ ಭವಿಷ್ಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಎಲೆಮರೆಯ ಕಾಯಾಗಿ ದುಡಿದವರು ಅಗಣಿತ ಮಂದಿ. ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧಿ ಪ್ರಚಾರ ಬಯಸದೆ, ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ವಂತ ಲಾಭಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಬಳಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳದೆ, ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ಶ್ರಮ ವಹಿಸಿದ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ವರ್ಗದ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯೂ ಕಡಿಮೆಯದಲ್ಲ.
