KR Puram, Bangalore Feb-18: Nearly 500 students performed mass, Surya Namaskara was at a ceremony held at Silicon City College, K R Puram, Bangalore.  RSS Akhil Bharatiya Boudhik Pramukh Bhagaiah was the Chief guest on the occasion.

The program started at 11.30AM by offering floral tributes to Swami Vivekananda, followed by the Mass Surya Namaskara performance by the students, teaching and non-teaching staff, and also the delegates.

Sri Bhagaiah, RSS-Akila Bharatha Bodhik pramuk addressed the students, specified on the benefits and positive effects of Surya Namaskar and added a note on significance of 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

a Christ become a Hindu, nor a Hindu become a Muslim. Let us be together and do good things.” said Bhagaiah.

About Surya Namaskar:

“Surya Namaskar” is Sanskrit which means obeisance or prostrations (Namaskar) to the sun (Surya). It implies that one rise before sun rise in order to do this exercise or pay obeisance to the rising sun.

It is a yogic exercise which consists of ten particular postures, one following another, in a fixed, cyclic order to ensure improvement and good health in one’s digestion, agility, rejuvenation, beauty and longevity. It will also help one lose weight and trim the waist.

The meaning for all the mantras & 10 postures were explained.
